JM Harwood, LLC, was founded in November 2006. There was an unfilled the need for a propulsion company which could decompose the Warfighter’s operational needs down to critical propulsion technology gaps and develop technologies to fill those gaps.
 Michael Harwood (Co-founder, President, Chief Engineer)
Michael Harwood started his post-graduate school career at Advanced Military Engines, Pratt & Whitney, working on Integrated High Performance Turbine Engine Technology (IHPTET) demonstrators. After a brief interlude designing modifications on operational helicopters, he joined Boeing Phantom Works as a propulsion integrator. There he was project manager on a Versatile Affordable Advanced Turbine Engine (VAATE) Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) propulsion integration study for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) which examined the vehicle level benefits of the proposed engine technologies. He also worked air-breathing, high speed missiles. He left the position to lead large multi-discipline teams on Future Combat Systems before moving to Huntsville and starting his own company.

 Jackie Harwood (Co-founder, Director of Finance)
Jacqueline Harwood has 20 years experience in the banking industry. Prior to co-founding JM Harwood, she served as a business analyst for a banking software company and was responsible for the management and execution of software conversations interfacing with core mainframe systems. She has worked with all levels of bank management including Chief Technical Officers (CTO) and Chief Financial Officers (CFO).

Advisory Board
JM Harwood has formed an advisory board to review business and technical plans and to provide guidance as necessary. This advisory board consists of the following members.
Tom Keenan, retired President of Teledyne Continental Motors, Muskegon Michigan and later CEO and President of the Integrated Defense Technologies Corp.
Jim Daniel, retired Boeing Chief Engineer for Tactical Missile Systems and Functional Lead.
